Red Riding Hood (styled shoot)

24 - 08 - 14

It all started with a message from a friend saying I can use Melissa (her sisters beautiful daughter and a ballerina) for a photoshoot if I ever needed a model again. I always wanted to photograph a ballerina, as I am facinated by how graceful they move.

So my mind started ticking, and I started to visualise a ballerina, dancing in a forest with mist floating around. This all sounded like a very nice fairytale so I started to wonder which of the well known fairytales could be referenced (with a dark twist, of course!), and that is where the 'Red Riding Hood' theme sprung to mind.

For the wolf, I asked Doris (from our doggy school) if I could borrow her Nougat, a german shepherd, also known in Afrikaans as a "Wolfhond". I borrowed a smoke machine, Adele's garden as backdrop (or should I say Stemmer's garden - he's the gardener), and asked my mom (from MC Flowers) if she could once again design me a headpiece with berries, and also decorate a basket for me for the photoshoot, and luckily for me, everyone agreed to help!

I would once again like to thank all my family and friends for helping and collaborating with me for yet another 'fantasy inspired' shoot, as always, I could never do it without the help of so many people behind the scenes! A special thanks to Melissa, our gorgeous model, and to Doris and her doggy, Nougat.

(please note: colours in photographs may vary on monitors not calibrated for printing - i.e. giving a high-contrast,
blueish and pale look to the photos which is not a true representation of the final printed product)
